the drinks, the eats

The food and beverage in America totally blew my mind. The first three nights in Atlanta were hard - as in I couldn't find anything healthy to eat - LIKE ANY WHERE!! The southern states are known notoriously for bad, fatty, fried foods. Americans like to package the crap out of everything and I dread to think how many paper/plastic plates are thrown out in the bins each day. At the end of every meal eaten out, the wait staff ask you if you would like to take the remainder of your meal home, all packaged up in a brown paper bag - I found that part SO AMERICAN. Once I got out to Mackenzie's I still found it different to home, but not as extreme as the city. The best thing I ate there, without a doubt, was Raph's Brazilian BBQ  ribs - never in my life have I had meat that good - no where!!! We were very lucky to part take in a Brazilian BBQ while in Atlanta. I wish I could have a BBQ like that every weekend. The lamb we ate that day came all the way from Australia - shit I really hope that lamb had a nice trip over on the boat (ha ha) - maybe it wasn't live export - who knows. Another favourite thing I ate was a blueberry deep fried pie - it was gooooooood. They really do love pickles over there and the kids eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches all the time.

Man I drank some Coke & pink lemonade. EVERY WHERE offers free refills for soft drink purchases and I found it too hard to resist. Places there often give away keepable cups - especially for kids.  There is a Starbucks on just about every second corner and alcohol can be purchased from Target!!! My favourite drink was the Pineapple Dole Whip Float at Disney - so yum.

I stared to feel like a Japanese tourist taking photos of our food and drinks all the time - but glad now I did. They so crack me up when they get out their cameras and take pics of their food - I guess I know now why they do it. They, like me, can't quite believe how incredibly different food can be in other countries.
