This time exactly one week ago I was about to meet up with an old school friend who I hadn't seen in ten years. We weren't just meeting up for coffee to catch up on all the goss. NO I was going to help photograph her wedding and I felt sick, completely out of my depth and terrified. As soon as I saw my friend Emma, her sisters and her best friend Monique a sense of calm came over me and the day progressed seemingly well from there .
Emma & Chris (who I also went to school with) were married at Fermoy Estate in Margaret River. Emma I can't believe this all happened. Thanks for giving me the amazing opportunity to photograph you, your friends, family and wedding details; I still think you are crazy for allowing me to do it. Your beauty, both inside and out, shone all day long. I know we will be friends for life now and I look forward to catching up a lot more often.
I must apologise as this is a really long blog post but I owe it to Emma

The sky the morning of your wedding!
Fermoy Estate
I was incredibly close to the action from the moment I arrived Friday night. Emma's soon to be brother in law Tristan and his sister Rebecca did all the catering for the wedding. They prepared and cooked all the food inside Fermoy cottage where we were staying. The cottage smelt amazing the entire weekend. These guys blew me away. They did such an incredible job with the food and they did it with a smile on their face the entire weekend.
Lets play make-up!!
Emma finishing off her speech and final wedding touches.
Rhiannon who is Emma's sister was also the make-up artist for the day. She worked her little butt off and made everyone look spectacular.

Emma wore the same horseshoe her Maternal Grandmother wore to her own wedding + another one that her Grandmother made especially for her.
Chris thanks for holding my gay looking banner and doing everything I asked you to do. You were a star and I will be forever grateful.

Party time
Did I love photographing a wedding? You betcha! Do I want to do it again? Yes, but not for a very, very long time. I am SUPER critical of all the photos I have taken and I know I need to get a lot better at photography before I even contemplate doing it again. I want a better eye, steadier hand, crisper shots better ideas, faster camera, another camera, better lenses, a flash, incredible editing software.... the list goes on. I enjoyed shooting under Julie from Julie De Vos photography and I am extremely grateful that she let this all happen. More practising for me I guess.... look out Noah!!!!
Samara, I can not thank you enough for being there on our day. As far as Chris and I are concerend you did the MOST AMAZING JOB EVER!!!!
ReplyDeleteIt was like we only saw each other yesterday, you were so warm, friendly, kind and just went about doing your thing. I love the photos so much they brought (more) tears to my eyes!!
You truely will be a friend for life!! The blog is soo cute and I cant wait to share these pictures with my friends and family, they will love them just as much as me im sure.
Please dont give up - I too am my own worst critic (I think we all are :-)) but you do an amazing job and you can only get better with practise- not that I think you need it!! I wouldnt hesitate in recomending you to anyone who was having a wedding and I hope my "card" helps with buying a few thing on your wish list xxx
